Israel has arrested a leader of the Palestinian Hamas movement.

The man, Maher Uda, was arrested in the West Bank, near the city of Ramallah.

The Israeli army has accused Uda of being the founder and leader of Hamas' armed wing in the West Bank.

Maher Uda had been on Israel's most wanted persons list since the end of the 1990s when he was allegedly involved in several suicide bomb attacks which claimed about 70 lives.
