At least 25 people have been killed in a bus crash in Nepal.

The bus plunged into a river in western Nepal, near the village of Kittu on Thursday.

As the bus was heading towards Surkhet district it fell off the Kalikot-Surkhet highway into the swirling Karnali river below, killing 18 people on the spot.

Another seven died on the way to hospital.

Witnesses have said the bus was very overcrowded.
