    Russia Herald
    Thursday 9th September, 2010

Pilots on a a Tupolev-154 plane in Russia have managed to glide it into marshy ground after developing engine trouble.

The passenger plane lost power at 10,500 metres when it was en route from Siberia to Moscow.

The sudden loss caused the aircraft’s fuel pump, navigation equipment and radio to shut down.

Pilots glided the plane to a lower altitude and landed it on an airfield in the Komi region.

The Tupolev overshot the end of the tarmac by about 200 metres and ended up in a bog.

Officials later said the the 72 passengers and nine crew walked away from the crashed plane, shocked but unhurt.
