Goodluck Jonathan in purge of Nigerian Cabinet
    Russia Herald
    Wednesday 17th March, 2010

The acting Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has dismissed his Cabinet.

No reason has been given for the dismissal which has seen all ministers stepping down.

Goodluck Jonathan has been acting president since 9th February due to President Umaru Yar'Adua being ill.

President Yar'Adua had been in a cardiac clinic in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah for three months before returning to Nigeria only weeks ago.

He has not been seen in public since his return.

In the coming weeks, the governors of Nigeria's 36 federal states will nominate candidates for ministerial posts.
